Who is Will Roesner?

Divider

Singer/songwriter Will Roesner makes songs like most people change their socks.

The multi-instrumentalist composer settled down after his recent cross-country relocation to Seattle by writing and recording a new song every day of the month of August. That followed on the heels of his previous project of releasing a song a week from December of 2023 through June of 2024.

A native of Baltimore, Will first moved to New Orleans to hone his unique take on indie pop in the Crescent City's small but scrappy alt music scene, thriving in the venues tourists never find. No one living in NOLA stays untouched by the eclecticism of its famed musical culture however, and throughout Will's time there the range of influences on his art continued to grow. In mid-2024, he moved to the Pacific Northwest, seeking even more growth and new audiences.

Will's musical gems of emotional honesty come from spaces between. The spaces between, say, Neil Young and Nirvana, Yo La Tengo and No Joy, or Alex G and Princess Zelda's Theme are almost a given. But his real depth comes from the spaces he finds between cities, between people, and between our heads and our hearts.

Continuing his prolific output, Will intends to release the best of his recent work as an album aptly called "August." But there's no need to wait or to limit yourself to exploring only his recorded output if you want to hear his new songs.

Live on Stage!

Will Roesner's music vibrantly leaps in fantastic directions when he takes to the stage with a band behind him. Longtime collaborator Joseph Belcher has also moved to Seattle, bringing his textural guitar playing with him. Joined onstage by players such as Maya Stone on bass and drummer Wyatt Pinto, the energy and engagement that made Will Roesner a favorite on New Orleans' alt-pop scene hasn't been diminished by a cross-country move.

Lucky Seattleites who caught Will's first local shows at the Sunset in Ballard or Tim's Tavern in White Center already know what others have yet to discover.
