Moment of Silence

When an important character dies, one way to ramp up the emotion is to cut all dialogue and sound effects, adding complete silence to the scene for perhaps ten seconds. Sad music, often withfemale vocalization, will usually be played to highlight the effect, but all other sound is cut out. Some extreme cases will eliminate even the music, leaving nothing but the video. Gruel And Unusual Punishment

When you have a misbehaving person in your care andsending them to bed without dinneris too harsh (or you just need them to not starve), an alternative punishment is giving them something bland to eat, like oatmeal or plain bread,or a food they just don't like. It will fill them up, but they won't enjoy the meal and will have to sit there and think about what they did while forcing down every unappetizing bite. The punishment becomes even more effective if the miscreant has to eat it
