Welcome to the Future of Video!

HyperionSDR to HDRSDR to HDR!

Get ready for the most amazing video experience EVER! HyperionSDR is HERE!

HyperionSDR to HDRSDR to HDR is here, and it’s giving the darkest darks, brightest brights, and highest definition Video AI has ever seen. It achieves inverse tone mapping by increasing the bit depth, expanding the color gamut, and brightening the highlights of input videos. It improves contrast and recovers detail in highlight and shadow areas of standard dynamic range inputs, and produces HDR10 (BT.2020/PQ) output.

In the Hyperion model controls, you’ll see the:

Highlight threshold slider: This slider explicitly tells the model the lowest intensity level to be considered a highlight. This slider should be set to a value higher than the brightest skin-tone (or any other color where accuracy is vital) present in the video. In practical terms, we recommend starting with the default setting and raising the value if undesirable color shifts appear.

Saturation boost slider: The HDR color space has a larger color gamut and supports more saturated colors. Turning this slider up results in more saturated outputs in HDR without loss of detail. This slider will, however, lead to a color shift.

Enhanced Interface

Tabs Comparing your results is easier, faster, and more intuitive.

Tabs are self contained groups of settings—create them from scratch or use presets. They replace the previous preview queue and A/B comparison mode. Now, rendered previews are contained in each tab, and it’s easy to compare two sets of previews, or the original. Just drag the tabs to create the view you want.

Exports & Sources

The export queue has had a major overhaul.

It now takes up less of your workflow space, offers more information about your exports, and makes it easier to track exactly what you’re rendering. Speaking of more work area, the sources panel has moved—find it right below the timeline on the right.

Presets

It’s easier to get the results you want. Period.

Find your favorite settings and quickly apply them across projects, or select a preset directly when starting a new project. Presets are tightly integrated with tabs, you can create a tab from a preset, or save a tab to a preset.

Timeline

This major timeline upgrade features afaster, more responsive flow, and has thumbnails to help you find what you’re looking for.

You’re no longer limited to one length of render preview.

Use the render button to see specific length chunks. Combined with the new Tabs feature, you can switch into Side by Side or Split View, and press the play button to start rendering.
