What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is a text-"fish", often used in printing and web design. Lorem Ipsum is a standard "fish" for texts in Latin since the beginning of the XVI century. At that time, an unnamed printer created a large collection of sizes and shapes of fonts, using Lorem Ipsum to print samples. Lorem Ipsum not only successfully survived without noticeable changes for five centuries, but also stepped into electronic design. Its popularization in modern times was served by the publication of Letraset sheets with Lorem Ipsum samples in the 60s and, more recently, electronic publishing programs like Aldus PageMaker, in the templates of which Lorem Ipsum is used.
Why is it used?
It has long been found that when assessing the design and composition, the readable text interferes with concentration. Lorem Ipsum is used because it provides a more or less standard filling of the template, as well as the actual distribution of letters and spaces in paragraphs, which is not obtained with a simple duplication of "Here is your text.. Here is your text.. Here is your text.." Many electronic publishing programs and HTML editors use Lorem Ipsum as the default text, so that a search for the keywords "lorem ipsum" immediately shows how many web pages are still waiting for their real birth. Over the years, the Lorem Ipsum text has received many versions. Some versions appeared by mistake, some - intentionally (for example, humorous options).
Where did it come from?
Many people think that Lorem Ipsum is a pseudo-Latin set of words taken from the ceiling, but this is not entirely true. Its roots go back to one fragment of classical Latin of 45 AD, that is, more than two millennia ago. Richard McClintock, a professor of Latin from Hampden-Sydney College, Virginia, took one of the strangest words in Lorem Ipsum, "consectetur", and began searching for it in classical Latin literature. As a result, he found an undeniable source of Lorem Ipsum in sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of the book "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" ("On the Limits of Good and Evil"), written by Cicero in 45 AD. This treatise on the theory of ethics was very popular in the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from one of the lines in section 1.10.32.
