The Financial Intelligence Teacher (FIT) Certification offers online training and assessment to empower educators with personal finance knowledge and instructional intelligence. Certification is awarded to teachers who pass the FIT Certification Test, a comprehensive assessment based on the latest Jump$tart and Council for Economic Education National Standards for Personal Financial Education. By achieving this certification, educators showcase their readiness to teach personal finance and their commitment to empowering the next generation through financial intelligence.

NGPF Certification Courses

Certification courses are held over a 5 week period in efforts to accommodate schedules. Each course has a single 2-hour session per week, culminating in 10 total hours, including exam to demonstrate proficiency.

10 Michigan SCECH available for educators who complete NGPF Certification Courses

To receive an NGPF Certification, you must successfully complete a 10 hour course-- 9 hours of Professional Development and a 1 hour course completion exam.

ECONOMICS CHALLENGE

Spinning Earth

Teams of three or four high school students compete in a series of challenging tests to demonstrate their economic understanding and reasoning skills. The Challenge matches your team’s understanding of economics with teams from other schools.

Every Michigan school district will have the opportunity to apply to participate in a three-round State Finals competition at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago-Detroit Branch on April 23, 2025.

PERSONAL FINANCE CHALLENGE

The Michigan Personal Finance Challenge is an opportunity for high school students to demonstrate their knowledge of Personal Finance by competing with other students across the state.

Every Michigan teacher will have the opportunity to apply to have their students participate in the 2025 Personal Finance Challenge State Finals on April 25, 2025. Participating teams will be given a case study one week prior to the competition. They will take on the role of a financial planning company and present their recommendations to a panel of judges at the State Finals event. The two teams with the highest scores after the case study will then compete for the state title in a fast-paced “Quiz Bowl” round. The fun does not stop there! The winner of the state title will travel to Atlanta, GA to represent Michigan in the National Personal Finance Challenge to win more cash and prizes!
