About Our Chapter

The Daughters of the Louisiana Purchase Chapter, NSDAR, are members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) and Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR). We are proud to support the DAR’s goals of patriotism, historic preservation, and education.

Patriotism

The chapter receives recognition for activities supporting the DAR Good Citizens Scholarship Contest for high school seniors, for presenting American braille flags to the Missouri School for the Blind, and for providing outstanding service and commitment to our veterans, including participation in MSSDAR’s Patriot of the Month project.

The chapter hosts an annual appreciation luncheon in November for local veterans and active-duty military servicemen and women.

Historic Preservation

The chapter receives recognition for its dedication and outstanding effort toward historic preservation. This work includes the preservation of local, state, and national sites of historic significance, providing verification of service provided by our Patriots who aided in the founding of the United States of America, and documenting genealogical records that prove an unbroken line between today’s descendants and these Patriots.

Education

The chapter receives recognition for activities supporting Constitution Week which runs September 17 through 23 each year, literacy promotion including donating books on American history to area schools, and supporting DAR-sponsored schools.

Chapter members are as active as they choose to be on projects that are meaningful to them. Some Daughters take part in many activities across all three areas of service, while others concentrate their efforts on one or two projects.
