Frequently Asked Questions

What types of services do you provide?

I provide translations from Spanish to English and French to English. I also provide subtitling services from Spanish to English and French to English.

I do not provide interpreting (spoken translation) services. If you are looking for an interpreter, please refer to the CHICATA Directory for a local Chicagoan or the ATA Directory for more national scope.

Can you translate into Spanish or French?

I only translate from Spanish to English and French to English.

It is best practice for translators to translate only into their native language—in my case, US English. This way, the translated text sounds as idiomatic and natural as possible.

How much will my translation cost and how long will it take?

Every project is different! Project pricing is determined on a case-by-case basis upon review of the document. How much the translation will cost and how long it will take depend on several factors, including:

  • Word count
  • Specialized subject matter
  • Formatting and layout
  • Urgency

Please contact me with your document for a project-specific quote. Rush pricing is available upon request.

What file formats do you accept?

Word files, photos, PDFs, PowerPoints, spreadsheets—I’ve got you covered! I translate from all file types.

And if the file is in an uneditable format, no worries. As a Microsoft Word expert, I will format the translation so that it matches the original document.

What is a certified translation?

In the United States, a “certified translation” generally means a translation performed by a professional translator that is accompanied by a signed certificate of translation accuracy stating that it is a true, accurate, and complete translation of the original. Most often, the translator must be certified by the American Translators Association (ATA).

Some organizations may have special requirements, so be sure to check beforehand. For example, for USCIS, the certificate of accuracy must include the certifier’s name, signature, and address as well as the date of certification.

As an ATA-certified translator for both Spanish to English and French to English translation, I am qualified to provide certified translations. Visit the Certified Translations page for more details, or contact me directly for a quote!
