Prepare to be amazed by shiny 3D versions of your favorite retro game boxes!
Explore Games! Check the Blog!
I most certainly do as I'm collecting them. For sharing my games with other (retro) gaming heads, I decided to turn all of the 1,009 boxes* filing up my NerdWall™ into shiny 3D!
All boxes can be zoomed and rotated and some can even be looked at from top and bottom angles. Also, double click/tap a box with a gatefold cover or sleeve cover to open them up.
The site is a one-man show and done in my spare time. I do try to keep it as up-to-date as possible but sometimes, well, life happens and the time from picking up a new box until it's available in 3D with all bells and whistles does vary quite a bit. I'm trying to keep you all posted via the blog though.
Anyway, I better stop babbeling and let you jump right in.
Use the search in the top right corner or start with one of the games listed below.
Enjoy,
Benjamin
* Well, lots of boxes and some not so boxy ones

2025-06-06 | 10 Years! PETSCII Covers Poster | And another poster made up with GFX from my C64 PETSCII demo "Scan And Spin" for celebrating 10 years of BigBoxCollection.com. Grab a high-res version here. |
2025-06-06 | 10 Years! PETSCII Poster | Took my C64 PETSCII demo "Scan And Spin" that I've made for celebrating 10 years of BigBoxCollection.com and turned it into a poster. Grab a high-res version here. |
2025-05-18 | 10 Years! Scan And Spin | I know, the 10th anniversary is still a month away but I just had to release my C64 demo early because it was finished and I couldn't hold myself back any longer. Download: csdb.dk/release/?id=253137 Details: jmin.at/Release.000039 |
2025-05-04 | Feel the Force | I'm used to playing Star Wars on my arcade cab these days, so revisiting it on C64 and a joystick sucks bit time; plugging in a mouse smoothes things out, but IMHO is just plain cheating. |
2025-05-02 | New trick | I do love boxes with gatefold covers and cutouts and both are supported here for their 3D versions. Further, there's boxes that come with a sleeve and guess what, jep, those are supported now too. |
2025-04-29 | Folios | Hand full of folios. |
2025-04-17 | 1000 Games | Woohoo! BigBoxCollection.com has now over 1,000 games available as high-res 3D models waiting to be explored! Here's the remaining ones on my to-scan pile:

2025-03-16 | ToDo List | Slowly getting there, only the following games on my stack:

2025-03-09 | Portal to Azeroth | Back in January 2024, Marion from Michigan, US got in touch with me after having read about BigBoxCollection.com over at PCGamesN. Reason for reaching out was the lack of World of Warcraft boxes in my collection and to change that, she would donate me her copies. After a couple of mails back and forth and me covering shipping, the boxes were sent over the big pond and arrived some weeks later at my place. Today, the standard boxes are finally up and the WarCraft BattleChest pictured below should hopefully follow soon too. Again, a a heartfelt thank you to you, Marion! |
2025-02-11 | Realms of Conan | Not sure why, but my Realms disk has Conan shining through? It's a single label, so it can only be a ghostly image from the thermal printer. |

There are 1,009 games available in 3D on this site and piling them all up would result in a stack 36.7m high and with a volume of 1.59m³. When adding up all sides there's 112.58m² of boxart, not counting the 78 gatefolds and 2 sleeve covers available to explore on this site. Further, there's a total of 950 photos showing the games' contents.
With the disks, CDs and whatnot of 974 boxes indexed, there's a total of 2,011 media. Here's a breakdown:
In regard of fidelity, 685 out of the 1,009 boxes have all six sides scanned. I'm working on adding more but this comes down to finding the time needed for scanning and editing. There's also 78 boxes with a gatefold cover that can be flipped open by double-clicking the box. Also, 132 boxes do have specific textures for their reflectiveness. It's a subtle effect but IMHO worth all the work, just look at Morrowind or Beneath a Steel Sky.
For 371 boxes, the artists of the box art have been identified. In total, there are 173 artists indexed and for 113 boxes, the original art is available.
Since the site's redesign on November 24, 2023, the boxes have been viewed 462,216 times. That's a whopping 28 games per hour over these past 22 months.
After launching bigboxcollection.com back in June 2015, I have been in touch with like-minded folks willing to spent some time creating their own 3D Big Box Collections with either re-using or building upon my code and starting from scratch with their own vision. Either way, it's fun to exchange ideas with each other on how to improve our projects and to keep one another motivated in your quest to bring dustly ol' cardboard boxes to life.
Here's an overview over other 3D Box projects. Go, check them out:
A 207 megapixel panorama of the shelf behind me taken in October 2021. There's no real order to the games on the shelf, except grouping some series. Why? It keeps browsing fun, even for me when looking for a specific box. Further, bigger boxes (e.g. US releases) are in the top, while the standardized Euroboxes fit in perfectly in the lower rows. The wall is 3.6m x 2.28m x 0.2m (bottom row 0.4m) and — you've guessed it — it's all IKEA (Bestå)
